Hi, this is Katie C. I am a Buyer for Pure Home, and this is my first blog post! I’m here to talk about gifting, since I buy carefully for a living!
Now, I know some people see gift giving as a mandatory practice that can lose its meaning with holiday hype. Consumer madness around the holidays can seem…well, mad! I’d like to offer another perspective. I think gift giving can be a truly meaningful experience on any budget. There a ton of fun ways to make your gift truly unique and special without breaking the bank or giving something that will soon be forgotten.

First, I like to take my audience into consideration…what this means is simply, who am I giving this gift to and what do they mean to me? A gift you would give to your parents, your best friend or your significant other is probably going to be totally different than a gift you may give a co-worker or a party host.

Lets start with the simple ones first. Host gift giving can be all fun, and you can take a pretty generic piece and transform it with a little creativity. Is the party themed? For example if it’s a black tie or cocktail party, a bottle of their favorite spirits is always a safe bet. In addition, bottle markers are always a fun and affordable way to accessorize the bottles for the host of the party and they can use them again!
These Go Home Ltd. markers are super cute and classy with a little bit of vintage flair.
Best friends are probably my favorites to shop for, because I know them so well. When it comes to selecting their gifts, I really want to put thought behind what I am gifting to them. My group of friends and I have a monthly “cheese night”- we all share a passionate love for fromage. I don’t think we have a met a cheese we don’t like!

I absolutely love these patterned Cheese Markers By Go HOME Ltd. What a fun way to accessorize a standard cheese plate!
A cheese night just isn’t a cheese night without wine with the girls. Since pretty wine glasses are a girl’s best friend, it’s hard to miss the mark by giving them to your girlfriends.
Design House Stockholm has these classy, thick stemmed globe wine glasses.
Gift giving for a close relative or a parent carries a little more weight. It’s a little too convenient to buy your dad a new tie – or in my case, golf balls – and buy your mom another pair of slippers. After enough holidays with those generic gifts, you will definitely be getting coal in your stocking.
Why not help Mom accessorize and organize her kitchen with these adorable Ceramic Chalkboard Memo Jars?
This sweet wall art from Pink marmalade says it all without really having to explain much more!
We all have run into the situation, where we really just need a last minute gift to give, but have run out of ideas. So we have purchased something universally “givable” that doesn’t hit a personal note. One way to make your gift seem truly unique and thoughtful, is to personalize the gift paper and tags- this is an adorable way to add a little extra excitement to gift presentation.

Gift giving should not be a daunting overwhelming experience. Have fun with it! Enjoy the moment of making someone else smile with a thoughtful gift that shows that you care. Happy Holidays!
